AboutCynthia earned her Clinical Doctor of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania and is a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Pennsylvania. She has been practicing clinical social work for over nineteen years with a focus on work with persons who have experienced complex trauma, childhood abuse and neglect, sexual violence and abuse, dissociative adaptations, persons in varying stages of recovery from substance misuse, attachment, survivors of cults/high control groups, chronic medical concerns, IPV, and persons of queer and trans/non-binary/gender diverse identities.
Cynthia is a member of the Clinical Social Work Association, the International Cultic Studies Association, the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation, the National Association of Social Workers, and the Philadelphia Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology. |
Training |
Cynthia completed the Gestalt Therapy Institute of Philadelphia's post graduate training program in 2007, the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia’s adult psychodynamic psychotherapy post graduate training program in 2012, and the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation's advanced professional training program in 2024. Additionally, she has been trained in EMDR and has completed ASCH Level I training in clinical hypnosis.

Work History |
Cynthia has worked in the HIV field for 20 years, was the Manager of Addiction Services at Mazzoni Center, and a practicing clinical social worker at The Attic Youth Center. Additionally, Cynthia was the Sexual Assault Counseling and Education Coordinator for Temple University’s Tuttleman Counseling Services and a behavioral health consultant for Philadelphia FIGHT’s John Bell Health Center. Cynthia has taught at the University of Pennsylvania, Bryn Mawr College, Widener University, and the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia and she received the Excellence in Teaching award during the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 academic years from the University of Pennsylvania. In 2016, Cynthia received the Young Member Award from the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia and was Co-Chair of the Programs in Psychoanalytic Studies at the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia. Cynthia is the chair of the ISSTD's Mid-Atlantic Regional Online Community and the past chair of the ISSTD's trans/non-binary special interest group.
